about

"Be ready for the rock," mock-warned Seven Mary Three in the bio for 2004’s Dis/Location. Nearly 20 years after its initial release, the band’s 6th album is ready for another run. Completely remastered from the original master tapes, Dis/Location will be re-released on the band's Settle Up Records imprint on November 17th with pre-orders and rarities available starting October 4th. This is the first time the record has been released on vinyl and streaming services.

On Dis/Location, Seven Mary Three’s Jason Ross says "We didn’t reinvent the wheel, but we reclaimed the reason we started the band by making this record. It's brash." From the opening salvo of "Settle Up" to the emotive ”Blue Letter," Dis/Location’s 11 tunes represent the most immediate, from-the-gut collection in a stellar career that began with 1995's platinum-plus American Standard and its massive radio hit "Cumbersome.” The record is co-produced, engineered and mixed by Brian Paulson, known for his work with Wilco, Beck, The Jayhawks and Slint.

Seven Mary Three released critically-acclaimed records on Atlantic Records and Mammoth Records through the 90s and into the 00’s, before the indie releases of Dis/Location (2004), Day&NightDriving (2008), and Backbooth (2010). Touring continued through 2012 when the band decided to take a break. In 2021 Seven Mary Three began re-engaging with its fans, releasing music “from the vaults” on Bandcamp and posting rare recordings and stories on Substack at highshelter.substack.com. The band and Settle Up plan additional re-releases and are actively working to secure rights to its recordings.

The Dis/Location LP is available directly from the band on 7M3.com and Bandcamp along with reissue of the EP Welcome Race Fans, which preceded the original release and includes different versions of several of its songs. The band and Settle Up are also pleased to release The Mis/Location EP featuring rarities from that era of the band, including studio, demo, and live recordings.
